The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly detained Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). According to a Vanguard Newspaper report, Ajaero was apprehended this morning at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport while preparing to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official engagement. The exact reasons for his detention remain unknown at this time.

It is also reported that Ajaero has been transferred to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). He was scheduled to participate in the Trade Union Congress (TUC) conference in the UK, which is taking place today. As of now, both the Labour and DSS have yet to comment on the situation. Efforts by Warri Sentinel to reach sources in the NLC have been unsuccessful at the time of this report.
