Dangote Refinery, PENGASSAN Dispute Resolved Says FG
Affected workers will be redeployed on full pay without victimisation, and the union has agreed to begin ending its strike.

The Federal Government has successfully mediated the dispute between Dangote Petroleum Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), ending a tense standoff that had escalated into industrial action.
After two days of negotiations, both sides reached an agreement during a meeting chaired by Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi. The resolution includes an immediate redeployment of affected workers within the Dangote Group with full pay and protection from any form of victimisation.
Workers’ rights to unionise were also affirmed, with PENGASSAN agreeing to begin steps toward ending the strike. The government’s intervention followed concerns over the broader economic impact of the dispute, which had centred on allegations of mass layoffs and the replacement of Nigerian workers with expatriates.
The conciliatory meeting was attended by top officials, including the National Security Adviser and several ministers, and concluded in the early hours of Wednesday with both parties pledging to move forward in good faith.
