Delta Govt Backs Proposed Burutu Sea Link Initiative
The Delta State Government has expressed its readiness to support the proposed Burutu Sea Link initiative following renewed interest in the development of Burutu Port as a strategic maritime hub.
The proposal, identified by the European Union, seeks to connect Lagos, the Niger Delta, Burutu, Onitsha, and Ajaokuta through a new coastal and inland water transport corridor.
The initiative is aimed at improving the movement of people and goods while enhancing connectivity across coastal and riverine communities.
According to the state government, the proposed Sea Link presents an opportunity to strengthen maritime transportation, promote regional trade, and support the growth of Delta State’s blue economy through its extensive network of waterways.
