EFCC Midnight Raid in Asaba Sparks Public Outcry
Residents say agents forced entry and wrecked property on September 19, with activists demanding compensation while the agency stays silent.

A midnight operation by Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the EFCC, has sparked outrage in Delta State after residents alleged wrongful entry and damage to their homes.
The raid, carried out on September 19 in parts of Asaba, left several families distressed, with videos online showing injuries and destroyed property. Some residents initially mistook the agents for armed robbers.
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu criticised the EFCC, calling the operation “unjust” and urging the agency to review its methods and compensate affected households.
The EFCC has yet to respond publicly to the allegations, as calls grow for greater accountability in its operations.
