The Federal Government has renewed its call for Nigerians to clear canals, drainages, and gutters to help prevent flooding.

This follows a report released by the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), warning that water levels at key monitoring stations along the River Benue are steadily rising and approaching flood levels.

On Tuesday, the Federal Government issued an alert to Nigerians about the planned release of water from the Lagdo Dam by Cameroonian authorities.

NIHSA identified several states at risk of flooding, to including Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Anambra, Rivers, and others.
