A former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Amos Agbe Utuama, has passed away after a prolonged illness. He died in the early hours of Saturday in Lagos, sources close to the family confirmed. Utuama, who served as deputy governor from 2007 to 2015 under former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, was born on June 5, 1947.

A prominent legal figure, Utuama was also the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Delta State during the administration of former Governor James Ibori. Prior to his political career, he was a respected law lecturer at the University of Lagos.

Utuama hailed from Otughievwen (Otu-Jeremi) in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. His passing comes shortly after the death of his wife, Dr. Nelly Utuama, which had reportedly affected his health.

While the family has yet to make an official announcement, news of his passing has spread among political circles and the legal community, where he was highly respected.
