If I Win, I’ll Bring Back Fuel Subsidy — Peter Obi
Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said he would restore Nigeria’s fuel subsidy if elected president in the 2027 general election, arguing that corruption must first be tackled.

Obi made the remarks in a recent interview with BBC, where he maintained that corruption was at the centre of the subsidy debate. He said his administration would focus on eliminating corruption and then bring back the subsidy.
The position comes weeks after Obi said the removal of the subsidy should not be reversed despite the alleged mismanagement of proceeds from its removal.
Obi has also identified education, security and efficient management of public resources among areas he would prioritise if elected.
