INEC Begins Nationwide PVC Collection, Seeks Media Partnership
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced nationwide collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 General Elections, urging media organisations to support voter mobilisation and education.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, disclosed this in a keynote address delivered by the Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Ayobami Salami, at the 10th Annual Conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) in Lagos on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Amupitan said the collection exercise would begin on Friday, October 9, urging online publishers and other media organisations to provide accurate information on designated collection centres and mobilise registered voters to collect their cards.
He stressed that the media had a critical role in ensuring eligible voters were adequately informed about the PVC collection exercise and other activities on the electoral timetable as the country prepares for the 2027 elections.
