INEC Releases Final List of Delta State Senatorial Candidates for 2027 Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the 2027 National Assembly elections, with political parties fielding contenders for the three senatorial districts in Delta State.

The list places prominent political figures and former officeholders in contention for the Delta Central and Delta North seats, while the Delta South race is set to proceed without an African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate.
DELTA CENTRAL
APC: Dafinone Ede Omueya
ADC: Ewhrudjakpor Benjamin
NDC: Omo-Agege Ovie Augustine
PDP: Arhagba Ighogbedjere
DELTA NORTH
APC: Okowa Ifeanyi Arthur
ADC: Ogoliegbune Valentine Chibuzor
NDC: Ochei Victor Onyekachi
PDP: Ogannah Onyeama Austyn
DELTA SOUTH
APC: Joel-Onowakpo Thomas Ewomazino
ADC: No candidate
NDC: Adhekpukoli Elo
PDP: Otuaro Kingley Burutu
Okowa’s candidacy follows his victory in the APC senatorial primary, where he defeated the incumbent senator, Ned Nwoko, in the contest for the party’s ticket.
The Delta Central contest is expected to attract considerable political attention, particularly because of the return of Omo-Agege, a former representative of the district, to the senatorial race. Dafinone secured the APC ticket after defeating Omo-Agege in the party’s primary election.
The ADC has no candidate listed for the Delta South senatorial election.
The emergence of the final candidates is expected to intensify political mobilisation across the state as parties begin to consolidate their structures and campaign strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.
With influential politicians, former governors and serving lawmakers involved, the three senatorial contests are likely to become key battlegrounds in Delta’s wider political realignment ahead of the elections.
