Frustration is mounting across Irri, Emede, Ozoro, Ellu, Ofagbe, Olomoro, Emevor and Iyede in Delta State, as residents warn that unresolved electricity challenges could shape political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The warning followed a peaceful demonstration in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area, where youths took to the streets, moving across adjoining communities to draw attention to the prolonged blackout.

Protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as “Isoko Needs Light, No Light No Campaign,” blaming political leaders and key stakeholders for failing to address the situation despite years of complaints from oil-producing areas.

They urged swift intervention to restore power, stressing that completion of the Ozoro substation remains critical to stabilising electricity supply, while insisting that continued neglect could influence how political campaigns are received in the region.
