Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has revealed his vision for the Niger Delta Games to become a springboard for athletes to compete on the world stage, including at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.

During a review meeting for the upcoming 2nd Niger Delta Games, Ebie expressed his commitment to making the event a legacy project for the region, aimed at discovering top athletic talent.

Ebie’s remarks were part of a broader discussion with the Main and Local Organising Committees, where he encouraged a thorough review of previous games to ensure a better experience for participants and spectators alike. The games, scheduled for February 20–27, 2026, in Edo State, aim to showcase the region’s sporting potential and pave the way for future Olympic champions.
