Oba of Benin Backs Tinubu’s Continuity, Prays for Renewed Mandate
The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku’Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, has called for the continuity of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying a leader who is performing well should be allowed to complete his work.

The monarch made the remarks on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, when the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, led a delegation of party leaders to the Benin Palace for consultations and prayers.
The delegation included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, former governors, serving senators and other senior party leaders.
While speaking during the visit, the Oba prayed for President Tinubu to receive a renewed mandate, effectively signalling his support for the President’s bid to continue in office for another four-year term.
“For somebody who is doing well, it is our prayer that he gets a renewed mandate,” the monarch said.
The Oba also urged Nigerians to support the President where his administration is making progress, stressing that the country should focus on allowing him to continue with what he is doing well.
Quoting the Bible, he said, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone,” adding, “If one is doing well, why not join hands with the President to do what he is doing well? Let President Tinubu finish the good work.”
The monarch further asked the delegation to convey his best wishes to President Tinubu and expressed appreciation for the warm reception he received from the President during his recent visit to Abuja.
