Omo-Agege Slams Dafinone’s Camp Over INEC Petition
Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has criticised Senator Ede Dafinone’s camp over a petition submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) challenging his nomination as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Delta Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 15, 2026, and signed by his Media Adviser, Sunny Areh, Omo-Agege described the petition as frivolous and alleged that it was sponsored by Dafinone’s camp out of fear of facing him in a direct electoral contest.
He maintained that he had duly resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and complied with relevant legal requirements in joining the NDC. He also defended the party’s decision to grant waivers to some candidates, describing them as measures to prevent possible internal disputes.
Omo-Agege further argued that the Supreme Court’s judgment of September 24, 2026, restoring certain provisions of the Electoral Act, did not invalidate his candidacy. He noted that INEC had published his name on its final list of candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The former deputy Senate president challenged Dafinone to face him at the polls, insisting that their respective records of service should determine the outcome of the election.
He reaffirmed his commitment to contesting the Delta Central senatorial seat, accusing Dafinone of failing to provide effective representation for the Urhobo people.
