Oyibode Assents to Bye-Law on Proper Naming of Locations in Udu
The Chairman of Udu Local Government Area, Chief Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, JP, has assented to a bye-law aimed at addressing improper naming of locations and improving the identification of places across the council area.

The assent marks a step towards establishing a more organised and consistent location-addressing system in Udu, which could improve how residents, businesses, visitors and service providers identify and locate places within the local government.
The development places emphasis on the importance of local government regulations in promoting orderly community administration and improving the way locations are identified.
The specific provisions of the bye-law, including its implementation process, enforcement measures and whether residents or businesses will be required to update existing addresses are yet to be determined.
The council’s implementation of the measure will be important in deciding how effectively it addresses naming inconsistencies and delivers a more reliable location-identification system across Udu.
This move by Udu Local Government Council mirrors an earlier initiative in Uvwie Local Government Area, where a bye-law on street naming and house numbering was also introduced to promote orderly identification of locations and properties. The measures align with the broader responsibility of local councils to regulate street naming and house numbering, supporting better administration, security and service delivery.
