Passengers Caught in Air Peace Flight Chaos After Ground Handling Incident
A NAHCO conveyor belt vehicle struck the engine of an Airbus A320 in Lagos, forcing delays and cancellations.

Passengers travelling with Air Peace have expressed disappointment and frustration after a ground handling incident involving one of the airline’s aircraft caused widespread disruptions at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (MMA1), Lagos.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Air Peace disclosed that the incident occurred shortly after Flight P47427 from Kano had safely disembarked its passengers. According to the airline, a baggage conveyor belt vehicle operated by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) collided with the engine of its Airbus A320 aircraft, causing significant damage and rendering the aircraft unserviceable.
The airline said the affected aircraft had been scheduled to operate multiple flights across its network in the coming days, warning that the incident would inevitably disrupt the travel plans of many passengers.
“As a result, several scheduled services will experience delays, while some may regrettably be cancelled as we work to mitigate the disruption through fleet adjustments,” the statement read.
Air Peace apologised to affected passengers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the unexpected incident. The airline assured customers that its operations and customer service teams are actively assisting travellers by providing alternative travel options wherever possible.
The carrier also reaffirmed that the safety of its passengers, crew, and equipment remains its highest priority. It added that it is working with the relevant ground handling company and aviation authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and prevent a recurrence.
Air Peace appealed for patience and understanding from passengers as it works to restore normal flight operations and minimise further disruptions.
