Obi, in a statement shared on his social media handle, said his administration cleared historical gratuities and arrears amounting to over ₦35 billion and left no outstanding salaries, pensions or certified contractor payments at the end of his tenure.

On the ecological fund, Obi said the ₦2 billion was released about three months before he left office for the Oko/Umuchiana erosion crisis. He said he refused to spend the money, insisting that it should be left for his successor because “government is a continuum.”

According to him, the funds remained intact in a First Bank account with a balance of over ₦2.13 billion and were separate from the over ₦75 billion in savings he claimed his administration left behind. Obi challenged anyone who could prove otherwise, saying, “I will stop campaigning.”
