Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has revealed that her leaked sex tape in 2021 was shared as part of a bet, calling the experience one of the most painful moments of her life.

Speaking on US-based radio show The Breakfast Club, Savage said she initially believed the video was shared by accident by her boyfriend at the time but later learned it had been a bet among his friends.

She also said the public backlash, including criticism of her parenting, took a deeper toll than the scandal itself. “They brought my son into it,” she said, adding that she still skips some songs linked to that period.

Savage, who revealed she has been celibate for three years, says therapy and support from her family helped her cope. “I’m 45, I’ve been married before… I’m okay,” she said.
