The government made this known in a special announcement signed by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, on Thursday.

According to the statement, the restriction is aimed at ensuring a safe, peaceful and orderly electoral environment, as well as protecting voters and sensitive election materials.

The announcement advised residents and members of the public in Udu to comply with the restriction throughout the period of the election.

It, however, clarified that the restriction would not affect essential workers and authorised personnel carrying out election-related duties.

Also exempted are accredited election observers, media personnel, security operatives, emergency responders and essential service providers.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Udu State Constituency bye-election for Saturday, September 19, as part of legislative bye-elections holding across Delta, Gombe, Bauchi and Kano states.
