Udu Bye-Election: APC Wins With 8,724 Votes
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Udu State Constituency by-election in Delta State with 8,724 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission's Returning Officer, Professor Omosede Osafile, declared the APC candidate, Ator Okolosi, winner after the results from the 10 wards were counted.
The election held on Saturday, September 19, was relativelypeacefulbut marred by voter apathy.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, George Orugbo, scored 212 votes, while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Esther Omovie, got 33 votes.
APC won in all the 10 wards, with its highest scores recorded in Ward 7 with 1,225 votes, Ward 10 with 1,219 votes and Ward 8 with 1,211 votes.
The by-election was held to fill the vacant Udu State Constituency seat after the former lawmaker, Collins Egbetamah, left the APC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Delta State House of Assembly later declared the seat vacant, leading to the by-election.
