Urhobo PGs Endorse Tinubu, Oborevwori, APC Candidates Ahead of 2027 Elections.

The endorsement was announced on Wednesday during a visit by the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, who represented Governor Oborevwori, alongside the Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Hon. Solomon Igrakpata, and the State Director of Protocol, Chief Sunday Onoriode, to the forum’s secretariat in Effurun.

Speaking during the visit, Chairman of the forum, Chief Monday Arawore, said the Presidents-General were committed to working with the government in power to protect the interests of their communities and ensure that Urhobo people benefited from government programmes.

Arawore said the forum understood the governor’s decision to align Delta State with the political leadership at the centre, noting that the move was aimed at strengthening federal collaboration and attracting development opportunities to the state.

He said the forum’s position was consistent with that of the Forum of Urhobo Traditional Rulers, which, according to him, had called for Urhobo unity, peace and support for the governor’s administration.

The chairman pledged the forum’s support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the MORE Agenda of Governor Oborevwori, urging both administrations to prioritise the welfare and development of the people.

In his remarks, Deputy Speaker Akpowowo described the endorsement as an affirmation of the political position earlier taken by Urhobo traditional rulers.

He said the traditional rulers had provided direction on the political interests of the Urhobo people, while the Presidents-General had subsequently reinforced the position.

Akpowowo also linked the governor’s support for President Tinubu to expectations of stronger federal collaboration and increased development opportunities for Delta State.

Similarly, Chief Sunday Onoriode said the endorsement covered all APC candidates contesting various elective positions in the 2027 general elections.

The Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Solomon Igrakpata, described the development as significant, saying the Presidents-General had expressed their views on the impact of policies implemented by the federal and state governments.

The participants also referenced the earlier endorsement of Governor Oborevwori by Urhobo traditional rulers, describing the Presidents-General’s declaration as a reinforcement of that position.
