The Delta State Government has clarified that vigilante officers, the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps, Raiders, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and other volunteer organisations have no right to verify vehicle documents, inspect engine numbers or establish checkpoints without the presence of a police officer.

The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Security, Engr. Udoka Emmanuel Chika-dibie, MNSE, said such responsibilities fall under the jurisdiction of law enforcement agencies specifically trained and authorised to carry out the functions.

He urged members of the public to report security incidents and concerns through the designated emergency security hotline, 08026723338, which he said is manned by trained professionals capable of providing immediate assistance and coordinating appropriate responses.

Chika-dibie called on residents to cooperate with the guidelines, stressing that adherence was essential to maintaining public safety and ensuring that security operations were conducted lawfully and effectively.
