Police Rescues Kidnapped Victims in GUO Bus Attack
Nine victims from two abductions along the Benin–Lagos corridor were freed after tactical operations, aerial surveillance and bush-combing.

The Edo State Police Command has rescued nine kidnapped victims from two separate abduction incidents along the Benin–Lagos corridor, with particular focus on the attack involving a GUO Transport Company bus. The rescue followed coordinated tactical operations, intelligence gathering, aerial surveillance, and sustained bush-combing efforts ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, the victims linked to the GUO Transport incident were successfully freed after being abducted during the attack along the Benin–Lagos Expressway. Police confirmed that all those taken during the incident have now been rescued alive, marking a major breakthrough in the case.
The earlier attack occurred on April 18, 2026, in the Iguobazuwa axis, when suspected kidnappers opened fire on a GUO Transport Company bus, killing the driver and abducting passengers. At the time, five persons were on board; one female passenger was rescued with gunshot injuries, while others were taken into the forest by the attackers.
In a related operation, four additional victims abducted earlier in the month were rescued from captivity in the Imiegba forest in Agenebode, bringing the total number of rescued victims to nine. Police confirmed all victims have been medically examined and are safe, while security presence along the expressway and surrounding forest areas has been significantly strengthened.
