APC Accuses Atiku, ADC of AI Fake News Plot
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of allegedly plotting to use artificial intelligence (AI), deepfake videos and fabricated documents to discredit the party’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna.

In a statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026, the council’s spokesperson, Dele Alake, alleged that the opposition planned to manipulate public opinion and spread false information targeting President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and other APC leaders.
The statement alleged that the plan involved the use of “Artificial Intelligence, deepfake videos, and counterfeit documents” to discredit the rally.
Alake further warned that the alleged campaign could include the circulation of manipulated videos, stating, “The ADC and Atiku’s hirelings have also perfected plans to circulate old, doctored, and deepfake videos as the rally gets underway later today to show purported resentment by the people.”
The council cited a photograph of a security vehicle near an APC campaign billboard and a purported letter claiming that the Kaduna State Government released ₦2.3 trillion to host the rally as examples of the alleged disinformation campaign.
Dismissing the ₦2.3 trillion claim, Alake said Kaduna State’s combined budgets for 2024, 2025 and 2026 were still below that amount.
The APC campaign council urged Nigerians to remain vigilant against what it described as a coordinated attempt to mislead the public. The statement did not provide independent evidence to substantiate the allegations against Atiku and the ADC.
