Navy Uncovers 10,000-Litre Reservoir of Suspected Stolen Crude in Warri

Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship Delta (NNS Delta), Warri, have uncovered a dugout reservoir containing about 10,000 litres of a substance suspected to be stolen crude oil in Oteghele, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The discovery was made last Wednesday during an anti-crude oil theft operation based on credible intelligence on suspected illegal petroleum activities in the area. NNS Delta, under the command of Commodore Shehu Tasiu, said the reservoir and its contents were handled in line with established procedures to prevent further use in illicit activities.

According to a statement issued over the weekend by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the operation forms part of the Navy’s sustained efforts to deny criminal operators access to crude oil and infrastructure used for illegal exploitation.

The Navy said the action was also in line with the strategic directives of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, to safeguard critical national infrastructure within Nigeria’s territorial waters.
