The inauguration, held at The Dome Event Centre in Asaba, also featured the unveiling of “MORE Plus” as the theme of Oborevwori’s re-election campaign, signalling the party’s effort to build its campaign around the governor’s MORE Agenda and the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Oborevwori, who chairs the campaign council, urged party members to move beyond rallies and political meetings to engage residents through door-to-door campaigns, community outreach and direct conversations with voters.

He stressed that the campaign must reach market women, youths, workers, farmers, traders and other groups at the grassroots, while calling on coordinators at local government and ward levels to strengthen party structures and ensure the APC’s message gets to polling units across the state.

The governor described membership of the council as a responsibility requiring unity, discipline and commitment. He urged members to explain the administration’s record in infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment and security, rather than relying solely on political slogans.

“Our achievements must speak for us, but we must also be prepared to explain them convincingly,” he said.

Oborevwori also assured residents that preparations for the 2027 elections would not distract his administration from governance, pledging that ongoing projects and development programmes would continue. He appealed to politicians and supporters to avoid hate speech and conduct their political activities peacefully.

# James Manager leads campaign operations

Former Delta South senator James Manager was named Director-General of the campaign council, with Chiedu Ebie serving as Deputy Director-General. The governor is the council’s chairman, while Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme and APC State Chairman Solomon Arenyeka occupy the first and second deputy-chairmanship positions, respectively.

The council brings together serving and former political officeholders, party leaders and elected representatives, including former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister Festus Keyamo, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Emomotimi Guwor, and senators Ede Dafinone and Joel-Onowakpo Thomas.

Its structure includes directorates and committees responsible for finance, election management, mobilisation, support groups, security, media and publicity, welfare, and youth, women and student mobilisation. Other committees are assigned to engage religious groups, non-indigenes and community stakeholders.

The council is expected to coordinate campaign activities across Delta’s three senatorial districts and support the APC’s efforts to win elections at all levels in 2027.

# Okowa, Keyamo and party leaders rally support

Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, speaking for Delta North, said expectations were high following the movement of political leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC in April 2025. He challenged the campaign team to translate the party’s expanded political base into strong electoral performance, stressing that voter engagement would be crucial.

Speaking for Delta Central, O’tega Emerhor expressed confidence in the APC’s position as the ruling party in the state and pledged support for the re-election bids of Oborevwori and Tinubu.

Former Secretary to the State Government Ovuozourie Macaulay, representing Delta South, also expressed confidence that the Oborevwori administration’s record would strengthen the party’s campaign.

Stella Okotete, former APC National Woman Leader and Executive Director of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank, called for intensified mobilisation among women and set a target of at least 75 per cent of votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Responding on behalf of the campaign council, Manager pledged to work with party leaders and members to secure victory, describing the assignment as one that would require collective effort and sustained grassroots engagement.

Keyamo, meanwhile, defended the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms, acknowledging the hardship associated with the policies but arguing that they were necessary to address longstanding economic challenges, including the cost of fuel subsidies.
