Sapele: Kidnapped Woman Rescued After All-Night Search

The incident occurred at about 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, when the woman was reportedly ambushed at the entrance to her compound. The attackers fired several shots into the air before forcing her into a nearby bush.

The incident has renewed concerns about the safety of residents, particularly those returning home after dark, as the attackers reportedly struck at the entrance of the victim’s own residence.

Following a distress call, the Sapele Divisional Police Officer mobilised patrol and surveillance teams to the area. Spent AK-47 ammunition shells were recovered at the scene, according to the police.

Police operatives, working alongside local vigilantes, began combing surrounding bushes in an effort to locate the victim and cut off possible escape routes.

The operation continued through the night and into the morning of September 3. The sustained search reportedly put pressure on the abductors, who eventually abandoned the woman and fled.

She was later found and rescued without injuries before being reunited with her family.

The Delta State Police Command said efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Abraka: Eight Arrested Over Attempted Murder

Eight suspects have been arrested in Abraka, Delta State, as police intensify efforts to unravel an attempted murder and tackle criminal activities reportedly linked to suspected black spots in the community.

The arrests were made by operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), following intelligence gathered during an ongoing investigation into an attempted murder reported on September 3, 2026. The development was also reported by local media on Friday.

The operation targeted locations identified by the police as suspected criminal hideouts in Abraka and resulted in the arrest of
Evans Adamda,
Mamatime Micheal,
Wale Morakinya,
Anabono, Godspower, Theophilus Philip, Robinson Oghenewiro and Inoni Ejiroghene.

Police said three locally fabricated pistols, Tramadol and other substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered during the raid.

The suspects remain in police custody alongside the recovered items as investigators work to determine their individual roles in the attempted murder case and establish whether they may be connected to other criminal activities in the area.

The police have not said that all eight suspects have been conclusively linked to the attempted murder, stressing that investigations are still ongoing.
