Uduaghan, who governed Delta State from 2007 to 2015, died on Monday, October 19, 2026, aged 71.

In his condolence message, Tinubu described Uduaghan as a committed public servant whose leadership focused on infrastructure, healthcare delivery and the welfare of Deltans.

He said the former governor’s death was “a great loss to his family, his community, Delta State, and the nation at large,” urging the people to draw strength from his years of service.

Obi described Uduaghan as a dear elder brother who treated him like a younger sibling, recalling their collaboration in advocating the award of the contract for the Second Niger Bridge.

He said the bridge, which promotes national integration and commerce, underscored the importance of collaboration in national development.

Obaseki also described Uduaghan’s death as a painful loss to Delta State, the South-South region and Nigeria’s political community.

The former Edo governor noted that Uduaghan, a medical doctor, pursued the vision of “a Delta beyond oil” and promoted regional cooperation among South-South states.

He added that the former governor’s contributions and relationships would endure as part of his legacy, while extending condolences to his family, the Delta State Government and the people of the state.

Uduaghan hailed from Abigborodo in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.
