The development was confirmed after José Manuel Briseño Flores, Chargé d’Affaires of the Mexican Embassy in Abuja, presented the Mexican government’s agrément to Ambassador Babagana Wakil, Director of Protocol at Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Omokri announced the milestone, expressing gratitude over the approval, which clears the way for him to serve as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Mexican States.

His diplomatic brief also includes concurrent accreditation to Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, giving him responsibility for representing Nigeria across four countries.

The agrément is the receiving country’s formal consent to a proposed ambassador, a key requirement in the diplomatic appointment process.

The latest development marks a significant step in Omokri’s transition into diplomatic service, following his nomination and subsequent confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
