APC Chieftain Brutally Attacked, Hospitalised After Meeting in Delta

The Secretary-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uwheru Kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Edewor Akpedafe, has been brutally attacked and left seriously injured during a meeting convened to resolve a lingering land dispute.

Akpedafe was reportedly assaulted by suspected thugs during the meeting held at the residence of Olorogun Miller Uloho, Advisory Chairman of the Ughelli North Local Government Council. The meeting was reportedly aimed at finding a peaceful resolution to a long-standing dispute over the ownership of an oil facility between Evwreni Kingdom (Unenurhie) and Uwheru Kingdom.

According to sources, the APC chieftain was allegedly dragged along the floor and forced into a Sienna bus, where his attackers reportedly continued the assault with dangerous weapons. He was subsequently taken to the Ughelli North Local Government Council Secretariat, where the alleged beating reportedly continued until his condition became critical.

Akpedafe was later taken by sympathisers to the office of the Police Area Commander in Ughelli.

The Area Commander reportedly ordered that he be rushed to a hospital for urgent medical attention.

The APC chieftain is currently hospitalised at an undisclosed facility, receiving treatment for injuries reportedly sustained to his head and other parts of his body.

The alleged attack has triggered outrage and concern among members of the Uwheru community and political circles in Ughelli, especially because the incident occurred during a meeting reportedly convened to settle the dispute through dialogue.

Meanwhile, some individuals within political circles in Ughelli have pointed accusing fingers at the Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Hon. Jaro Egbo, alleging that he may have played a role in the incident.

However, the allegation against Egbo could not be independently verified, and there is no confirmed evidence establishing his involvement in the alleged assault as of the time of filing this report.

The identities of the alleged attackers and the events that led to the assault remain unclear, while the police have yet to publicly disclose details of their investigation.
