Car Theft Attempt In Broad Daylight Raises Security Concerns In Bendel Estate
A suspected car thief has attempted to steal a resident’s vehicle in broad daylight at Bendel Estate, Effurun, Delta State, prompting a security alert to residents.
Warri-based activist, Israel Joe, raised the alarm in a Facebook post, recounting the frightening experience of a friend whose car was reportedly targeted between noon and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
According to Joe, the victim parked her vehicle outside her residence around noon, but later discovered that an unidentified individual had broken into it and attempted to start the ignition with what appeared to be a master key.
He said the attempt failed after the key broke inside the ignition, forcing the suspect to flee and abandon the vehicle.
Expressing concern that the incident occurred in broad daylight in front of the owner’s residence, Joe urged residents of Bendel Estate and neighbouring communities to strengthen their security measures.
Joe also warned residents to remain particularly vigilant as the festive season approaches, stressing that criminal activities could occur even within residential estates and during daytime.
He urged members of the public to share the alert to sensitise residents and prevent similar incidents.
