Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has used the state’s 35th anniversary to project a renewed vision for Delta, declaring that the state is entering what he called its “shining era” of development and prosperity.

Oborevwori made the declaration in a message to Deltans as the state marks 35 years since its creation on August 27, 1991. Rather than dwelling on the anniversary as a mere historical milestone, the Governor highlighted the occasion as an opportunity to assess Delta’s journey and set the tone for the next phase of its development.

He said the progress recorded since the creation of the state was the result of the combined efforts of successive administrations, traditional institutions, religious leaders, civil servants, the private sector and citizens, while acknowledging the contributions of those who laid the foundation for the Delta of today.

The Governor said his administration would build on that foundation through continued investment in infrastructure, policies targeted at improving the lives of residents, expansion of economic opportunities and a governance approach designed to accommodate more Deltans.

According to him, developments currently taking place across the state demonstrate his administration’s determination to translate its agenda into tangible results and position Delta for sustained economic growth.

Oborevwori also called for greater unity and peace among Deltans, stressing that the state’s future would depend not only on government action but also on the willingness of citizens to contribute to its advancement.

“As we celebrate 35 years of our dear state, we are reminded of the sacrifices, dedication and vision of those who have contributed to making Delta what it is today. The shining era of Delta State is here, and together we will build a future of greater possibilities,” he said.

The Governor congratulated Deltans at home and abroad, urging them to see the anniversary as both a celebration of the state’s achievements and a renewed commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous Delta.
